Sigma Kappa Omega Supports the Alzheimer's Association and Relay for Life
Sigma Kappa Omega has adopted the Alzheimer's Association as its philanthropy. The mission of this association is to "Eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health." The association's vision is dedicated to "creating a world without Alzheimer's disease." To help get their word out, the ladies of Sigma Kappa Omega participate in the annual Alzheimer's Association Memory walk, which takes place every fall. We also encourage others to join us by hanging up fliers on campus and hanging out brochures to fellow students and citizens of Nacogdoches.
Our other philanthropy is Relay for Life. This event is run by the American Cancer Society. The event is 6-24 hours in long and SKO has members on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps. Sigma Kappa Omega participates in the Relay for Life walk every Spring semester.
Project Princess was created by Sigma Kappa Omega. This event involves helping a local young woman get her hair, makeup, nails, and dress for prom.
Sigma Kappa Omega also participates in Adopt-A-Highway. This consists of cleaning our highway, located on Austin St., twice a semester.
